Talented Wordsmiths

Joe Roberts

Joe Roberts is an author, speaker, wine competition judge, sometimes hiney-shaker, and creator of the iconoclastic 1WineDude.com wine blog. Called "always entertaining, often provocative" by the Seattle Times, Roberts has frequently been named one of the most influential people in the U.S. wine industry. His latest books — Wine Taster’s Guide: Drink and Learn with 30 Wine Tastings and Wine Taster’s Journal: Drink, Rate, Record, and Remember — were released in 2020, both hitting the #1 spot on Amazon’s Hot New Releases list in the Wine Tasting category. When his hands aren’t on a wine glass, pen, or keyboard, they’re laying down bass grooves in the Philly area for the Steve Liberace Band.

Nikki Goddard

Nikki Goddard is a Bay Area wine writer and educator. With over 14 years of wine industry experience, Nikki has written for a wide range of companies and publications including JancisRobinson.com, Vivino, Delectable, Wine Folly, SommSelect, The Spruce Eats, Dry Farm Wines, Liquor.com, Foley Family Wines, Edible East Bay, Beverage Industry News, and more. She is certified through the Wine and Spirits Education Trust at the Diploma level and has taught courses for levels 2 and 3. Nikki worked for several years as a wine buyer and previously co-owned The Barrel Room, a wine bar in San Francisco.

Nikki fell in love with wine while studying Textiles and Apparel at Cornell University. Beguiled by the wines of the Finger Lakes and realizing that she had a greater affinity for the laid-back, epicurean lifestyle of an oenophile than for the cut-throat fashion industry, she decided to make wine her life’s career.

Brian Freedman

Brian Freedman is a wine, spirits, travel, and food writer, restaurant and beverage consultant, wine and spirits educator, and event host and speaker. He writes the Wines of the Week column at Forbes.com and also covers spirits there, regularly contributes to Food & Wine digital and Departures online, has contributed to Travel + Leisure online, Whisky Advocate Magazine and Wine Enthusiast print and online, and more. He also hosted wine and spirit pairing segments on the CNN Airport Network. In addition, Brian has contributed to JancisRobinson.com and served as Editor-at-Large for Drink Me Magazine, contributed pieces to Fodors.com, People Magazine online, and Sommelier India, the largest wine magazine in India. In 2019, Brian was awarded one of only 30 fellowships to attend The Symposium for Professional Wine Writers in Napa Valley. He has traveled to more than 50 countries and territories around the world, and extensively throughout the United States, to experience the food, drink, and culture for his work, and hosts virtual and in-person tastings for corporate clients around America.

Zachary Bernstein

with wine, including several feature articles for Los Angeleno. He also writes
original musicals, one of which -- "Disasteroid!" -- was published by Stage Rights
